Amy的回信

下学期我就得面对鬼子讲课了，两个courses，其中一门写作，另一门还不得而知。哇！说实在，我不太理解美国人的思维，让老外教他们英语，这在中国没法理解。这就是美国的可爱之处，一切皆有可能。

 

刚刚放下一个包袱，又背上新的包袱。Dr. Smith告诉我不要怕，美国大学生很nice，知道怎么respectfully对待老师。说我的口语写作都不错，可能开始会紧张，慢慢就会很好，他有信心。

 

一想起这我浑身就筛糠。给Amy写信，希望给点建议。下面是Amy的回信：

 

One thing that will help is that Americans are used to interacting with people who are non-native speakers. It happens here (esp in the university setting) much more than you might think. I know it will be a bit nerve wracking at the start … but remember you ARE a capable teacher who has been teaching for years. They will probably assign you students who are young. I have NEVER had any problems understanding you. YOur English is one of the closest to native like I have heard!

I am not exaggerating. YOu will feel nervous AND you will do fine!

 

对于我近期反反复复的情绪，Amy安慰我：

Of course you are thinking a lot!! You are getting ready for a HUGE transition … I know it is something you have worked hard for and that you wanted, but even good transitions can be very stressful. You know how I wanted to come to China (and like you had quit my job and had to change many things in my life). While I was very excited, the day before I left I became very sick and threw up — I think it was just all of the stress and transition and my body just shut down.

When will you get to America? I am hoping that some time this year you will be able to come out to Denver and visit me!

American classes are not so different from Chinese ones. Right now don’t worry about research … just eat lots of good spicy food because you won’t find much of it in America

 

Dr. Smith这么说了，Amy也这么说了，我就上吧。
